In general, I agree that the U.S. media is full of shit, but I have to admit that I took a bit of offense to your comments about 'Americans' in the generalized sense. I think it's natural for us to think about how this affects us. I mean, after 9/11 there is obviously a heightened sense of "we are major targets" here, and the London bombings bring it all back. The fact that we have a certain amount of self-preservation in mind doesn't mean that we're not also thinking about the tragedy being endured by many who lost loved ones yesterday. It makes me ache to think about it, and it also reminds me that we are all vulnerable.
Also, Bush is a complete ass, and I wouldn't let him get away with a damn thing if I had anything to say about it.

I totally agree with you that the American news and government sensationalize everything. Granted, what happened there was awful, but I saw no reason to make it about our own security. If they were going to attack New York City, they'd have done it already or in a completely different manner. I nearly threw something at the TV when I saw the mayor of NYC on the news channel making those type of statements. Heaven forbid they stay covering what was actually happening in London. Grr.

I swear to God that sounds like something I would do. I live alone and every once in a while I come into the apartment and then realize that I left the keys hanging in the door. And I really do believe that what your roommate doesn't know, won't hurt her. I came to your diary through your banner,by the way. I'll be coming back.
